Unlike mass production cooperage, at Ariake our barrels are handmade, casks charing are get done old fashioned way which mean our craftsman skills play a significant role in our process.
Currently, there are only about 50 barrel craftsmen called “Cooper” that make a barrel in Japan. Moreover, as the aging of the industry progresses, the succession of technology and skills is getting harder. To protect this unique culture, Ariake Industries will actively engage in cultivating young coopers for the next generation. Continue to develop this culture to produce a barrel to deliver more savory flavor to your spirits and supporting the industry is one of Ariake most crucial mission.
