Ariake Sangyo was founded in 1963 by Odawara Toshio. The company head office located in Fushimi the heart of sake brewery district in Kyoto. In the early days of the establishment, it was the ideal location for the main company business supplying sake wooden crates for the 1,8L sake bottles size.
Following years of experience working with wood and spirits industry in 1984 Ariake built their first cooperage in Miyazaki prefecture in the heart of shochu island, started produce oak cask for shochu and whisky makers.
More than the decades in the industry, Ariake Sangyo specialized in producing oak barrel remains as the only one independent cooperage in Japan.
They have distinguished themselves with handcrafted oak casks from skillful craftsmanship.
Ariake Sangyo is now managing by Odawara Nobuyuki, the 4th generation of his family business.
Inheriting innovation spirits from his family Odawara and his team work devotedly to pursue and improve technique to produce best quality cask.
Odawara had a passion with craftsmanship in manufacturing oak casks and amazed with how wood affects the flavor of the spirits he wants to bring Japanese taste to the world. The cooperage now utilizing Japanese native wood materials to produce a barrel, offers a brand new flavor profile to the spirits.

Our company has been involved in the alcohol industry consistently for about 50 years since Toshio Odawara founded the company. Until today at the 4th generation, we are still carry on the founder’s spirits that were always trying our best to contribute to the spirits industry.
Moreover, I feel that the culture of sake in Japan is unique. As the only independent cooperage in Japan, I aware that our mission is to enhance technology and craftsmanship skills to produce a more and more exceptional barrel to support the creation of an environment where customers can produce most excellent spirits than ever.
We are enhancing our skill and knowledge and striving to bring more value to the barrel to deliver particular Japanese flavors that will satisfy our customer’s needs with the slogan “Safe, secure, delicious” that capture the essence of our company management philosophy.
